Fraser and myself like to extend a warm welcome and invite you to Nessmuk Wilderness Skills & Expeditions (NWSE) and our company’s Blog. The content featured here is a written testimony of our continuing journey into the natural world, a place very near to both our hearts. We aim to document our adventures and present educational articles for your consideration, writing about outdoor skills development, our experiences or interests and include some tips & tricks in the many subjects relating to wilderness bushcraft, backcountry recreation and survival.
Within that realm, we consider ourselves of average experience and are by no means ‘experts’. We know what we know and happily share, hoping that our content or ‘lessons learned’ somehow can contribute and maybe enrich your own experiences out there. We are passionate about the outdoors and the more we learn, the more we realize how much is yet to be discovered. There will always be more topics to explore and different places to visit, and the idea of never really running out of new things to do as ‘students of Nature’ is a very exciting prospect for us.
NWSE’s Blog is written for likeminded people who like us, understand that a knife is sharp and fresh coffee is hot, without the need for any labeling to state the obvious. We try to give in to the ‘call of the wild’ as much as possible and in doing so, we are accepting and even embracing the fact that we voluntarily leave our world of relative safety and convenience behind, in search for new horizons and great adventures.
Like many other recreational pursuits, backcountry travel and wilderness skills development is never without risk and, because none of us are created equal, the NWSE Blog reader should not solely rely upon this or any other NWSE information sources as a definitive guide or foolproof way to accomplish something. What works for us, may not work for you and vice versa. It’s a matter of personal tolerance, perception, and level of experience in the outdoors. Our content represents the fruits of our combined experiences, gathered knowledge and conducted research, resulting in our own personal opinions and findings.
We hope you enjoy reading about our adventures and that it will encourage you and those you know or love to venture out as well. Whether it’s close to home or deep into a more remote area, go and explore the forests, deep blue lakes and winding rivers, share the glow of a warming fire and the laughter of good company and maybe one day, we’ll see you out there.
Enjoy, leave a comment and once again, welcome to NWSE’s Blog.
