Peter Desmet


Peter’s journey into the outdoors began at the age of 14 when his dad gifted him the now world renowned SAS Survival Handbook by John L.Wiseman. Fascinated with its content, he found himself exploring the Southern forests of his homeland Belgium, learning along the way. Gradually his attention shifted towards adventure travel and new, exiting experiences which took him across Europe and eventually into Canada. Peter knows what he knows and shares this enthusiastically, knowing that he too will be forever a student.

Personal History:

  • Born in Antwerp Belgium.

  • Spent any and all spare time in the outdoors, travelling to Corsica, Crete, France, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway and Canada to pursue his passion for adventure.

  • Relocated to Ontario in 2011.


  • Bushcraft, Survival skills & psychology.

Professional History:

  • Worked as a maintenance technician in a factory.

  • Instructed survival skills and edible plant courses.

  • Worked as a Security Enforcement Officer for US Embassy & Tri-Mission Brussels.

  • Worked as Provincial Park Warden in the interior of Algonquin Park.

  • Instructed Standard & Emergency First Aid, CPR/AED courses.

  • Worked as an upland bird and white tailed deer guide for a private members hunting club.

  • Worked as a team-leader, developing SOP’s on firearms safety, safety briefings, professional conduct, risk assessment and emergency response for a private members hunting club.

  • Instructed and guided customers on backcountry canoe adventures.

Fraser Clark


Fraser is an avid outdoorsman with 14 years experience working in remote parts of the province and a love for the outdoors that dates back to his childhood in Northern Ontario. He is eager to share his knowledge and help others learn the skills of bushcraft.

Personal History:

  • Born in Southern Ontario

  • Moved to Timmins Ontario at the age of five.

  • Childhood spent in the outdoors playing in the woods (thousands of hectares of crown land, not the local bush lot).

  • Boy scout from the age of 5 to 17.


  • Hunting, fishing, sport shooting

  • Backcountry canoeing , camping, hiking, snowshoeing

  • Bushcraft

  • Blacksmithing

Professional History:

  • Worked as an ORCA instructor.

  • Coached competitive kayaking.

  • Studied aircraft maintenance in college.

  • Ran a crew of thirty men doing brush removal for a large utility company.

  • Certified utility arborist for a major utility, often working in remote fly in locations.

  • Responsible for summer students during remote fly in spray operations.

  • CFI qualified to instruct holster training (firearms safety course)

  • Instructor for club level safety courses.

  • Instructed rope rescue.

  • Owned and operated North Gate Bushcraft Adventures.
